My Favourite DIY Face Mask for Dry Skin
Dec 20 2019In the winter and cold weather I’ve noticed my skin becomes more dry. Having dry skin in winter is very common as the air is cold and dry and therefore evaporates the moisture from your skin more quickly. This can make your skin look flakey.
Tips for dry skin in winter
- You should definitely apply a good moisturiser in the morning and evening. I love using Aveeno every night as it really locks in the moisture.
- You should also avoid have long showers or baths as the skin’s oily layer can break down and cause loss of moisture.
- Use creams and products that are not perfumed as these can irritate dry skin causing itchiness and redness.
My favourite DIY face mask for dry skin
Definitely follow the above tips but also do this face mask 2-3 times a week and your skin will feel instantly smoother and softer!
Avocado, Honey & Vitamin E Mask
The avocado will lock in moisture and soothe dry skin. The honey will add a glow to your skin whilst the vitamin E will repair and protect your skin.
- Mash half an avocado.
- Add 1 tablespoon of honey.
- Add 1 teaspoon of vitamin E oil.
- Mix well.
- Apply the mask on clean skin for 30 minutes.
- Wash off with warm water and pat dry.
You’ll really notice a difference when you start doing this 2-3 times a week but often people notice their skin is improving straight away!

Could Green Tea Clear Your Acne?
Nov 20 2019
There’s a lot of medication and creams that help with acne but if there was a way to treat acne with natural and non-chemical ways then I’m up for that! Green tea contains antioxidants, anti-inflammatories and antibiotics. It’s rich in something called EGCG that has shown to improve acne and also oily skin. I’ll be discussing the ways you can use green tea below to help keep your skin clear from acne.
Face Masks
Green Tea and Honey
- Get some loose leaf green tea or cut the tea bag open to use the green tea leaves
- Add 3 tablespoons of hot water to the tea leaves
- Add 1 tablespoon of manuka honey
- Mix the ingredients until a paste is formed
- Apply the paste on your face and leave it on for 20-30 minutes
- Wash off with warm water
- Apply this mask 2-3 times a week
Toner
You can make a green tea toner to apply on your face every night before going to sleep. Once you have done your usual skincare routine you can apply the green tea toner.
- Brew some green tea for 1-3 minutes
- Add ice cubes to cool it down
- Once cooled you can apply the green tea to your face with a cotton pad
- Keep this on overnight or if you have sensitive skin then rinse your face with warm water after 20 minutes
Drinking Green Tea
Start drinking 1-3 cups of green tea a day and after a few weeks you will notice an improvement combined with the masks above. Drinking green tea also helps your general health so you should feel better too. Just make sure when drinking or using the above masks that you buy pure green tea and none that contain added flavours or sugar.

5 Tricks To Revive Your Skin Overnight
Jul 17 2019
Sometimes you might have periods of time when your skin is amazing and other times it can appear dull, tired, spotty and dry. Fortunately, there are great products and scrubs available to revive your skin in times of need. A good skincare routine, drinking enough water and a healthy diet plays a huge role in keeping your skin healthy.
Do these 5 steps to help revive your skin overnight.
Exfoliate
It’s good to exfoliate to get rid of any dry skin, excess oil and dirt. Use your regular exfoliator or make a natural one yourself at home.
We recommend making a DIY coffee scrub. Coffee grounds are great for exfoliating and getting rid of dry skin cells, revealing fresh and energised skin. Caffeic acid found in many plants and coffee is an antioxidant that reportedly boosts collagen and helps with wrinkles too. Coffee scrubs can also help with acne by unclogging pores and getting rid of excess oil.
Recipe: Simply mix 2 tablespoons of coffee grounds with 1 teaspoon of coconut oil. Scrub on your face for 30 seconds then wash off with warm water.
Face Mask
The next step would be to apply a face mask to soothe the skin. We recommend making a DIY turmeric face mask. Turmeric is an anti-inflammatory so making a homemade turmeric mask can really help to fight any inflamed acne and help to keep the skin clear and radiant. It can also help eczema improve too.
- Get 1 tablespoon of yogurt
- Add 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder
- Mix together and apply for 20 mins
- Wash with warm water and pat dry
If you don’t have the time to make a DIY face mask, you can use any other product you usually use. Some products we love are Estée Lauder – Perfectly Clean Multi-Action Creme Cleanser/Moisture Mask and Clarins SOS Hydra Refreshing Hydration Mask.
Toner
Apply a toner to tighten the skin and make pores smaller. A toner we love is Elemis Soothing Apricot Toner.
Night Serum
Using a night serum helps to repair the skin overnight, making skin look and feel clearer, smoother and more radiant. Apply your night serum once the above steps have been completed. We love using Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair Synchronized Recovery Complex II.
Moisturise
And finally, apply your usual moisturiser once the night serum has soaked into the skin. All the above steps will really help to revive the skin overnight and you’ll wake up to much better skin!

Kitchen Cupboard Secrets for Amazing Skin
Mar 29 2019
You can’t beat natural ingredients when it comes to skincare. If you’ve got dry, dull or oily skin and need a quick skincare fix just grab a few ingredients from the kitchen – chances are you’ll have most of them anyway!
Coffee
Coffee grounds are great for exfoliating and getting rid of dry skin cells, revealing fresh and energised skin. Caffeic acid found in many plants and coffee is an antioxidant that reportedly boosts collagen and helps with wrinkles too. Coffee scrubs can also help with acne by unclogging pores and getting rid of excess oil.
Recipe: Simply mix 2 tablespoons of coffee grounds with 1 teaspoon of coconut oil. Scrub on your face for 30 seconds then wash off with warm water.

Coconut Oil
Coconut oil can be used to help treat acne as it has components to reduce inflammation. It contains vitamin E and essential amino acids to form part of the skin’s barrier function. It keeps the skin well moisturised as it’s absorbed quickly so doesn’t leave the skin feeling too greasy.

Apple Cider Vinegar
Apple Cider Vinegar can be used as a toner to help with breakouts due to its anti-inflammatory properties. It’s one of the best anti-bacterial and anti-fungal ingredient. It can also help balance the skin’s PH level, which helps to dry out spots and remove dead skin cells.
Mix 2 tablespoons of Apple Cider Vinegar with 2 tablespoons of water. Use a cotton pad to soak the solution and rub into the skin.

Oats
Oatmeal is great for brightening up the skin. It can soak up excess oil from the skin to help treat acne and can also help your skin stay hydrated. It’s a natural cleanser and can unclog pores and remove bacteria.
Mix a quarter cup of warm water with 1 teaspoon of coconut oil and 3 tablespoons of oatmeal. Mix until a paste is formed and apply for 15 minutes. Wash off with warm water.

Get Flawless Wedding Day Skin in Just 30 Days
Mar 15 2019
Your wedding will be the best day of your life – everyone knows you want it to be perfect! With all the stress about needing caramel coloured tablecloths and NOT just any old beige, you might forget to take care of your skin. If this sounds like you, start the below steps now and if you follow them religiously for at least 30 days leading up to the wedding day, you’re guaranteed to glow!
Follow the steps below to get flawless wedding day skin in just 30 days
1. Hydrate. Skin is the largest organ on the body and without sufficient water intake your organs won’t function properly or at their best. Drink 2-3 litres of water everyday to flush your body of toxins and improve skin radiance.
2. Green Juice. Make a fresh green juice everyday for breakfast to get in those vital vitamins and nutrients. Pack in as many veggies as possible for clear skin. You can keep it to vegetables only or add a piece of fruit for some sweetness. You’ll feel healthier overall with increased energy to focus on annoying tasks like chasing RSVPS for the umpteenth time!

3. Exfoliate. You should exfoliate 3-4 times a week to get rid of dead and dry skin cells. It also increases blood circulation in the skin, which helps to achieve healthy and glowing skin.

4. Face Mask. Use a face mask once a week for a deep cleanse to get rid of any makeup, dirt, oil, bacteria and dry skin cells. Choose a mask based on your skin type. Clay masks are great for oily skin to extract excess oil and tighten pores. Hydrating masks are perfect for dry skin. Use this time to relax and switch off from wedding stress.

5. Night Serum. Invest in a good night serum and apply every night before sleeping once you have cleansed your face. Once you find a preferred night serum you will fall in love again and notice better complexion and texture of skin, fewer breakouts and less shininess.
My ultimate fave night serum has got to be Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair. Synchronized Recovery Complex II
6. Sleep. Make sure you’re getting at least 7 hours of sleep every night. Lack of sleep can worsen existing skin problems such as acne by causing an increase of inflammation. During sleep your body’s hydration rebalances so lack of sleep can create puffy eyes, dark circles and wrinkles.
Follow these 6 steps at least 30 days before your big day. The earlier you begin the routine the better!
